The Environ-Pure Project

The Environ-Pure Company manufactures two models of water filters—Puri-Clear and Environ-Safe. Models are added and deleted as new technology evolves, as well as when the company’s market strategy shifts. The products are sold through three distributors who redistribute the products to retailers. The company is negotiating with several potential distributors as additional channels of distribution. Typically, the distributors place a purchase order for one model at a time, with a quantity ranging from 500 to 2,500 units. Regular orders are delivered by the company’s own trucks. Occasionally, some orders need to be rushed. In such cases, the company ships them either through U.P.S. or through a special carrier arranged by the distributor.
