The Menu Bar and the Toolbar

The menu bar and toolbar are found under the title bar of the IDE, as shown in Figure 2-4. The menu bar provides many menu items. These items are similar to most of the Windows applications. For example, the Edit menu contains options such as the familiar Cut, Copy, Paste, and Select All options found in the older versions of Microsoft Office applications. Click on some of these menu items and explore the available options. These menu items will be discussed when they are needed.
The toolbar appears below the menu bar. It provides shortcuts to the menu bar. All the options available here are also available in the menus; however, the items on the toolbar allow you to gain quick access to the options. If you need to know what option an icon on the toolbar represents, simply rest the mouse pointer on the icon. A ToolTip will appear to indicate what the icon is for.

The ToolTip feature is available for all the icons in the IDE. Get acquainted with these icons by resting the mouse pointer on each of them.
